1. You must know the names of the notes and the keys:

The first thing you need to do before starting to learn how to play the instrument is to learn the names of the seven musical notes: do (C), re (D), mi (E), fa (F), sol (G), la (A) and ti (B). If you know this order by heart, then take some time to look at where they are on the instrument. Notice how each of these notes is on a white key. The other keys of the instrument shall be taken up by the same 7 notes. The only difference is that this group of 7 shall repeat itself, in different octaves going from the highest-pitched to the lowest-pitched notes.
